Continues the Harry Hole series with pace. Hole is more gumshoe than cop, following the stereotype of disheveled alcoholic loser who pulls success from the jaws of defeat

I have read a few of Jo Nesbo's novels and I find them fantastic. Why they should be compared to Steig Larsson I'm not sure, except that they are both Scandinavian! The hero Harry Hole is a very likable character, honest and moral although his personal life is a mess and he's a kind of alcoholic. The story is fairly fast paced but there is enough time for Nesbo to be descriptive about the surroundings and society. There are lots of twists and turns some of which turn out to be cul-de-sacs, but there's enough pressure to keep you page turning!

This is a page turner like other Jo Nesbo thrillers. What I find intriguing is that so many of the 'better' thrillers come out of Scandinavia. It must be something to do with their lack of sun and light, I feel. I enjoyed the book, a good travel/holiday read.

As rivetting and spell binding as all the previous releases in this series. As always there is suspense and surprises. Harry Hole is a complicated but surprisingly vunerable person.
