Priscilla White knows she'll never be a wife or mother and feels God's call to the mission field in India. Dr. Eli Ernest is back from Oregon Country only long enough to raise awareness of missions to the natives before heading out West once more. But then Priscilla and Eli both receive news from the mission board: No longer will they send unmarried men and women into the field. Left scrambling for options, the two realize the other might be the answer to their needs. Priscilla and Eli agree to a partnership, a marriage in name only that will allow them to follow God's leading into the mission field. But as they journey west, this decision will be tested by the hardships of the trip and by the unexpected turnings of their hearts.

Priscilla White knew God wanted her to be a missionary, not a wife.

The young heroine Priscilla White found out she could not have children, so she took up God's cause and became a missionary. But her journey is riddled with bad luck, danger and Eli Ernest. Eli shared the same dream but the law was against them. Neither could be a missionary unless they were married. The inevitable happened. They married in name only and set off on an epic journey that is a true one.Jody cleverly weaves history and romance together in this thrilling true story. It is by a long way the best book I have ever read. And I cannot wait for Jody's next book to come out. Superb!

I really enjoyed this novel, it was a nice surprise and well worth reading. It is a keeper. Priscilla and Eli don't get off to an easy start, but they overcome many obstacles to finally realise their love for each other. It is a book of faith, and deals with many themes, so it is not your typical romance novel! If you like Francine Rivers and Laura Frantz novels, you'll like this.

The value of this book is not only the wonderful true story, but also the wonderful practical Christianity of the characters. I highly recommend this gripping book
